Frequently asked questions

Below is a list of answers to frequently asked questions. I hope that they might answer any queries you have, but do not hesitate to get in touch if there’s anything further you need to know.

Q: What is the canvas size you use for your paintings? A: I mostly used stretched canvasses of varying sizes. I sometimes use canvas boards too.

Q: What material are your canvasses made from? A: They are sturdy wooden frames with stretched cotton (acid free, and vegan friendly). The boards are also canvas, but are mounted onto stiff and durable boards. Both look the same, but boards are easier to frame, whereas stretched canvasses can be hung as they are.

Q: What type of paint do you use? A: I use various brands of high quality acrylic paint (all vegan friendly).

Q: What brushes do you use? A: I have dozens and dozens of brushes, all made by many different companies. None of my brushes have animal hair, and I use synthetic brush hair only.

Q: Do you paint custom work/commissions? A: If my painting style appeals to you, and you would like me to paint a custom piece then I would love to hear from you. I mainly paint landscapes/seascapes, and would be delighted to paint something of that style for any art lover. Please note that I am not currently offering portrait services of people or animals.

Q: Will you paint anything at all that I have in mind? A: I do try to keep an open mind and always enjoy trying new things. Every artist has their specialty, so the first thing to do is have a good look at my existing paintings. If you like what you see, then I am confident that I can create something bespoke that you’ll really enjoy. I am always happy to discuss your ideas, so feel free to get in touch.

Q: How much will a bespoke piece/commission cost? A: That depends on the type of piece you want, the size of the canvas you would prefer, and how long it is likely to take me. My prices for pre-existing paintings can be seen in my online store, which will give you a ballpark idea of what it costs, as these figures are based on the above criteria. Please get in touch if you have ideas of questions.

Q: Do you ship outside the UK? A: Yes, I ship worldwide.

Q: Is your online store secure? A: Yes, completely. It is powered by the excellent ‘Bigcartel‘, one of the market leaders for providing online shopping solutions. I also occasionally sell via eBay auctions.

Q: How can I pay for my order online? A: ‘Bigcartel‘ accepts all most major debit/credit cards, as does eBay.

Q: How long will my order take to arrive? A: Paintings or prints that are already created will be dispatched within 48 hours of you ordering, and should be with you within 3-5 working days. Quicker courier services can be arranged if requested. Bespoke paintings and commissions will need to be created from scratch, so I can give reasonable predictions of timeframes whilst we discuss what you’d like me to paint. However, depending on the workload, I will always try and work to your timeline.

Q: How do you ship your paintings? A: I use cardboard boxes that are specifically made for shipping artwork. The paintings are also protected by bubble-wrap, and I also use paper-based sticky tape.

Q: I am unsure whether to buy a painting, because the physical artwork may look a bit different than in the photographs (light, textures, and colours might not be exactly the same as the picture etc.)? A: Any painting should look much better “in the flesh” than the photos, so please do not worry. The textures and vibrancy of the physical piece will make the painting look even more alive when you see it. In addition, I guarantee 100% satisfaction:

—MY SATISFACTION GUARANTEE—

If you like my paintings then you can buy with total confidence: I guarantee 100% satisfaction and am fully committed to ensure every art lover enjoys my work for many years to come. Should any artwork arrive damaged, or you are not totally happy with any aspect of the experience, I will arrange the piece to be collected, then either re-paint the work, or give you a full refund (depending on what you prefer). I want everyone to feel the same joy that I feel when I paint, so my number one goal is for you to take great pleasure when you put my work on your wall.
